Strength and Conditioning is a systematic way of organising training, nutrition and recovery protocols, in order to build specific qualities required for athletes to be peaking under the bright lights when it is their time to shine.

This is periodisation in a nutshell.

Any console game in which you create a character and designate attributes to specific qualities is an example of periodisation.

You start with a baseline. Then you spend periods of time working on specific attributes to improve abilities. You can spread your points across a broad number of attributes, and improve overall in a general and broad manner. Or you can focus specifically on a few qualities you want to dramatically improve, for a period of dedicated time.

Different times of the year/season will lend better to certain types of training.

Strength and Conditioning is the MMA of sports performance training.

These same principles can, and should be applied to everyone who undertakes a training program, regardless of level.

We aren’t always going to be “on”.
Sometimes training is about maintaining where we are.
Sometimes it is about minimising the damage when life gets a little crazy.

A well rounded S & C program will have you getting in quality movement all year round, to account for the time, space and equipment you have available.
